Tissue Expander Patient
This patient was diagnosed with left breast cancer at age 43. She underwent bilateral mastectomies and reconstruction with bilateral tissue expanders.
About Breast Reconstruction Using Tissue Expanders
This technique requires several stages. First, a tissue expander, a balloon-like device, is placed underneath your pectoralis muscle. After a few weeks, we gently inflate the expander, creating a pocket. When the expander reaches the desired size, we remove it and insert a breast implant. Reconstructed breasts can appear beautiful and natural.
