“It seemed like I spent my whole life getting ready to have a mammogram or getting ready to have the follow-up from the mammogram or waiting for someone to tell me what they found.

“I chose to have bilateral prophylactic mastectomies. It was a pretty easy decision, really. They’re not me. They’re just things. The morning of the surgery, I was looking in the mirror, and I thought, ‘Well, buds, you’re on your way out, and you’ll never give me cancer. Ever.’

“And so, it was a massive relief to just say, I’ done. I’m done with it now.’”
